About Me

Born and raised in Vienna, Austria, college educated in the US, Mr. Wuernitzer received a BA in Political Science from SUNY College at Purchase and a Masters degree in Political Science and Media Studies from the New School University in Manhattan.

Stefan Wuernitzer’s career as a director/cameraman/photographer in the TV and film industry spans over two decades.

Over the last 25 years he has worked on TV commercials, music videos and documentaries in Europe and the US for such high profile clients as AT&T, Mobil, General Foods, Proctor and Gamble, Masterfoods, Honda, Audi, Fiat, Mazda, Toronto Stock Exchange, and UPC.  He has directed video projects for musical artists such as Paula Abdul, Manhattan Transfer, Jermaine Jackson, En Vogue, and Tyler Collins.

Prior to his work in film Stefan Wuernitzer worked as a free-lance production coordinator/manager for PBS WNET Channel 13 on The New Years Concert, the Gala of Stars, and the award winning political documentary series Global Rivals.

His collaborative working relationship with artists, agencies and clients and his global experience have resulted in award-winning work recognised at the NY Film Festival, the Florida Film Awards, the LA Advertising Awards, Berlin Film Festival and Austrian Film Festival. In 2005, Mr. Wuernitzer directed a series of social advertisements for DEBRA (Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa) – a painful genetic skin defect – for which he received Gold and Silver at the Cannes Advertising Film Festival and the highly coveted Platinum EFFIE Award for outstanding directorial accomplishments in advertising. The campaign also helped raise sufficient funds for the construction of the first hospital exclusively dedicated to the treatment of DEBRA, in Salzburg, Austria.

From 2008 to 2011, Mr. Wuernitzer worked on ‘The lingering shadows of Chernobyl’, a photo documentary project on the systemic health crisis of children in the Ukraine and Belarus caused by the nuclear power plant catastrophe of 1986 at Chernobyl, Ukraine.
